I removed the blue wire from the rf reciever, first stage of tracking down a overnight battery drain.
Did this then went to start car ,engine imobilized came on the dash and couldn't start the car (p38 dse).
Plugged blue wire back in car will start,
any idea's folks,:scratching_chin:

There are two wires to the rf receiver aren't there so pull the other one and see if that works.

Do you work in bomb disposal by any chance??:D

The FOB communicates with the RF receiver when you put it in the ignition, perhaps your receiver is so weak that it doesn't receive with the aerial removed?
Only if the car is fitted with the passive immobilisation coil around the ignition lock - and this is from a transponder chip in the fob.
If the car is not fitted with the passive coil it will time out and need to see a valid unlock code from the fob - by pressing the button. You may be able to mess around with BECM settings to get around this - but overall its better to fit the YWY500170 RF upgrade in the long run.

Cheers folks, strange thing is when I put wire back in the central locking is working better than ever .
I'm sure we all wished we worked in bomb disposal sometimes, not to save the car though :D
