RF Receiever Location?

Hello, my mate is suffering battery drain on his P plate 4.6 P38, this is a replacement 'new' battery as it happened a while ago so went back to where they bought battery from and they replaced it. I have read through some previous threads and intend to disconnect the blue wire from the RF receiver as a start point, is it a simple job to do and where is the receiver located? Appreciate your helps guys.
 
The receiver is located just under the rear drivers side window. Take the parcel shelf out. Look along where the edge where the parcel shelf normally rests and you will see 3 little plastic clips. Pop them out. Now put the rear seat forward. There is a screw there that you need to remove. The whole shelf thing will now lift off with a bit of pressure. The RF receiver is close to the rear seat. Disconnect the blue aeriel wire. Might as well check and see what RF unit you have installed. Look for a coloured dot stuck on the forward face of the receiver. If its blue buy a replacement. If its green then you have the latest unit. In that case something else will be draining your battery.

Yeah I struggle with understanding this as well. The spurious signals received cause the becm to send lock signals to the door out stations - result is that the motors in the door actuators burn out. Why the becm only sends lock signals and open signals is beyond me - why it sends any signals at all in response to receiving a spurious RF input from a wireless door bell or wifi hotspot beggars belief. All I know is that if you change the RF receiver the problem goes away. Its a bit like the oppositite of religion - we have the proof I just don't believe it...:p

It's quite simple, the RF receiver normaly receives a lock/unlock command from the FOB which is passed to the BECM which then operates the lock motor for a predetermined time via the door outstation.
When the early type RF receiver is overwhelmed by random RF, it contiunally sends lock commands. Unfortunately due to bad software design, the BECM simply relays these commands to the lock continuously operating the motor which eventually burns out. The BECM software should have been able to recognise multiple inputs and block the command. Better still the RF receiver should have been designed properly in the first place. It is not a problem unique to LR, in many cases faulty RF receivers also disable the vehicle in the presence of spurious RF signals, even happens on Honda motorcycles:(
 
But having disconnected the blue aerial does that potential threat go away? I stayed in the locked Rangie for a few minutes the other day to confirm that the gearbox light on Neutral was going out (it was), so I assume that the cheap fix has worked?
