Since I had a towbar fitted about a year ago, I have an intermittent problem with my (factory-fitted) reversing sensors. They beep even when there is nothing behind. I don't think they're detecting the towbar, as sometimes I can go weeks without the problem. I suspect it's a wiring fault from when the towbar was fitted (not by a Land Rover dealer). The car is a 2004 Freelander. Any ideas what I can check and where?

Don`t know about factory fit systems but when i fit aftermarket ones they have to be towbar friendly so could be that that`s causing issues.

The fact that you can go weeks without the problem occurring suggests that it may be something else. Give the sensors a clean and try it again. Dirty sensors will trigger the beeps.

Due to the shape of the Freelander, the rear is prone to getting dirty quickly. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the case here.
