Hi all Land Rover lovers!

I have had my LandRover for 6 weeks and was totally chuffed to bits that I actually had a LandRover - a car I have always wanted - thanks to my Nan.
When I collected the car I was told the Cambelt had been done but had no proof so was going to get it checked out by the local garage. Unfortunatly after 4 weeks the cambelt snapped and £1250 + to have it all put back together again.:(
Everything is now fine but I have now noticed the rev counter is not working - it was working before hand - does anybody have any ideas before I take it back to the garage? If it's something simple I'd rather do it myself.
Many Thanks.

Which model?
Which engine?
Has it been seriously altered or modified?

Rev counters can get their information from a cable on the back of the alternator
- or a computer under the seat.

Oh yea - welcome to LandyZone, nice of you to introduce yourself, say hello etc.

Hi Dogsbody

Very sorry about the introduction and have now done this but I hope I have done it on the right page. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction as I have never done forums before.
The answers to your questions: Landrover Discovery 1994 2.5ltr 300tdi. As far as I am aware, it has not been modified in anyway but I will be looking to do the blanking plate on the EGR valve.
Many thanks

Right, now go ask your question (with full details) in the Disco section.

No point in asking me, I've got a Rangie!!!

How much do you trust the garage that did the work?

due to heat and atmospheric change the single little black wire on the back of the alternator corrodes gets brittle and snaps

unplug it from the alternator cut about 25mm off the end crimp a new connector on and it should be fine its a bit of a common occurence with the 300tdi engine
