FINALLY! i got pictures done of what i cleared up so far. but before i post them all i want to know what you all think about these rust spots. there the only 4 spots inside that are bad, and there as bad as it gets inside. the 4 main rust on the outside are in the exact same place. so i deffo need to replace the seels.

main question is can these spots be cut and welded?

Easy fix and a propper job as Sean says... get new body cappings. About £75 for a propper pair. I got mine off Ian Notts (he is on this site). Drill the old rivets out. Replace all the seals. I believe you can get away with not taking to roof right off and prop it up with a brush but not seen that one done.
I did mine last year with no experience... it was easy enough. You drill new holes from the inside out for riveting and fill the old holes. You may as well prime and hand paint the lot while you are at it. See my profile for a couple of pics on my project and read what notes I made. Getting it water tight is testing but I did it with advice of peeps on here. Mine was in a similar condition to yours

dum dum works well when putting the bits back together to keep the water out

the capping is the steel trim that sits on top of the ali tub.

I would what a good look at the bulkhead and the chassis before sorting out the little jobs

The bulkhead is fine and so is the chassis from what i can see so far. i give the chassis some good thuds with a hammer and it didnt go through. im starting to thing this little beast dont need as much work as i thaught it did. i was underneith scrubbing the surfice rust off the tracking dods and it was starting to look good. all the rubber seels are fine, no dry cracks in them.

thanks for the replys and advice guys, much apreciated :)

most of the brown on here you might think is rust but its where they stuck the carpet down with the glue. basicly the brown carpet underlay stuck to the gle, its a roal pain in the rear to get that stuff off

more questions. im ordering a service kit this week and im going to drain the oil out the engin an replace it. what oil have you had the best results.

reason for asking is i used the recommended brand in my punto manual, ever since i started using my engins been alot louder since i put it in

dont want to mess up my new toy :(

ah yer see, what it is the recomended oil will "wash " out yer engine too, sooooo, as it washes all the sludge out that keeps it quiet , it will start to rattle, some times its more hasstle than good,
