Hello. My Dad has his Dad's old Landy. Its a short wheel base 1976 Defender, with bunk seating in the back, traditional green and cream colour. About 36k on the clock and was only ever used for short trips. Sadly it's not been used much the last few years and is in need of some TLC. It runs ok, but there's some rust on a couple of panels although nothing major. As I fancy a project I'm going to try and work it back in to mint condition. I did the same on an '89 Jeep Cherokee in the USA and ended up selling it for more than I bought it for even after 6 years of use.

So my question is this... no knowing that much about parts in the UK, can anyone steer me to a good place for used Landy parts - as I may replace the and panels and also, any idea of what one in good nick would see for? I'll probably just keep it and try and find a cheap lock up to protect i from the elements, but interested in value.

I'll try and upload some pics but to great at doing things like that!

Any help much appreciated.

Prices have never been so high and there are dozens of firms / internet sites supplying all parts so no worries there. There is an on-going debate as to if/how long the prices will remain high but either way I don't think you could ask for a less risky project to invest in especially with the provenance of your particular project.

Thanks for your reply and good to read what you say. I think the whole family is attached to her so it would be great to restore her to former glory.

Just doing research on parts and thru a reg check, see it's actually a 1976 LAND ROVER SERIES III. Shows how much I know eh?! Always assumed it was a Defender.

A good source of parts is eBay if you know what you’re looking for and the usual sort outs like the Newbury sale.

There are plenty of suppliers of new parts. It would be worth either doing some google research on Land Rover parts suppliers or buy one of the Land Rover magazines.

Don’t forget some pics of the Landy and let us know how you get on.
