Ordered my paints from a local paint specialist LRC909 & LRC820.
Purchased new doors and had them painted off the vehicle. I was then informed by the painter, a close friend, that the paint was more cream than white. :(
Back to the paint specialist tomorrow to air my frustrations. I appreciate the paint will get sorted its just the added work involved to strip the doors and repaint. I could have done without the headache and I can't believe a paint specialist can get it so wrong!!! Thankfully it was only the doors and not the body.

You should have taken a part with the original paint on and got them to match it in natural light.
Codes are a rough guide I've found over the years. Paint mixer guy will have lots of reasons as to why it's not his fault:rolleyes:

The thing is I don't have anything for him to match against as its a complete colour change for the old girl.

Oh, I see..
Cream is nice? Classier than white?
Have you purchased enough paint to do the whole car?
If you haven't and intend to buy it as you need it then be prepared for it to vary in shade from tin to tin.

I have purchased enough for the whole vehicle. Cream is nice yes but not when you are going for the 'Ice' colour scheme.

He will probably say 'because you didnt have anything to match against and are having a complete colour change for the old girl' Tough titties. Thats the number you chose, enjoy.

They are like that.:(

Surely if thats the case they should have mentioned that at time of purchase.
When you order paint and provide a code you'd expect it to be the right colour.
Its not even close!

Nope, not my experience at paint suppliers.
I've part painted a few cars and the paint has never matched even with codes.

I've just had my Defender painted the original colour, Rioja Red. Gave the paint shop the code 601 and it looks spot on. Looking at the vehicle on the drive, it looks the same as it did before. (Only shiny and new) However, up against an old part you can tell a difference. I think colour codes are far from an exact science, I'm afraid.

Well the bulk of the body is now painted and looks amazing. Just the roof and arches to paint tomorrow. The Fuji white is a really nice colour with hints of blue. Now I'm more than happy. :)

I think they look better the more there is painted and you get a more overall effect. It hard to judge from one or two panels. A hint of blue, for the ice theme, seems spot on:)
