Hey all. My electrician is trying to figure out what is wrong with my heater fan. He says that some water flooded the system, but he was able to make fan spin by giving it power indirectly. He believes that the reason it won't turn on is because the resistor is bust. Any other possible reasons? Where does one find a decently priced resistor used/new? I was able to find some silly priced ones, 100+ pounds each. Not paying this much.

Have you tried eBay? Presumably, the resister controls the various fan speeds, you could just bypass it and have the heater running at full speed. £100 does seem very expensive for such a simple thing. Are you sure that price isn't for the complete fan assembly?

If you give it a direct 12 volt feed and it works but doesn’t when you select the lower speeds on the switch
Then it will be the resistor pack u/s,
The resistor gets very hot in operation and if suddenly quenched by water often crack and be buggered,

The fan bearing are oiltite type and dry out then seize to the shaft, then the bush spins in the housing and a new heater fan is needed.
