97R 300tdi auto, 128K miles, has Goodyear Eagle GT+4 tyres all round, fitted by previous owner 3 years ago at 98K. Tread depth was recently assessed at 7/7/7 on both front tyres, 1/2/1 on the OSR, 5/4/5 on the NSR and I'm surprised it's so uneven. The OSF is losing some pressure, neither rear does. I'd planned to replace the rears this week anyway but am now looking at doing all four. If I go for a different tyre from the Eagle, am I ok keeping an Eagle on the spare?

I tow a horse trailer and need to get out of muddy fields, but nothing very exciting off road.

The local fast-fit that I normally use recommend Bridgestone 689 and say they are discounted by 25% from Monday, even if they order them this week. Quote 473.59 for 4 tyres fitted etc after discount so they are a pretty expensive tyre normally. Anyone used them?

Their other options are Goodyear Wranglers at 498.94, Michelin Lateral at 493.95 and Continental at 467.83 (Big Lad's post puts me off Conti). I realise they may be cheaper online but I've used this place for 20 years of Volvo tyres and loyalty took me there first!

HOW MUCH!!??

Shop around FFS......

In this harder economic climate you should be able to source at well below £100/tyre including valve/balance/fitting for a big name make.

Dont disregard Cooper as a make either:

Cooper tyres, 4x4 tyres, B.F.Goodrich, Cooper Cobra tyres

They're good enough to be outselling BFG in Australia apparently.
