So today arrived with a day of work to have four replacement-tyres fitted replacing my "Goodyear GT+4 tyres".
The front ones which I purchased at Billing back in 2002 had only 2.5mm tread and were showing cracks on the side of the tread blocks not surprising as I've had them for 12 years, also it was mentioned at this years MOT so had to go. I looked but couldn't find for the DOT code so I've no idea on the age of the tyres.

Both rears were replaces back in 2006 but then a brand new was purchased and the other was my unused spare and the remaining tyre at the time was put on the back as a spare as it had a very slow puncture which was still there till today as I couldn't find it:(

So the plan today is have the newish tyre a DOT 06 go on the back door, the one with the puncture which was a factory tyre the DOT code on that was just 4- and the one that was an unused spare, the DOT code on that was 84 so a question there why fitted to a 1997 vehicle, but never mind as I never had any problems with them, but the two that had to go even though they still had 6mm of tread.

Still using Goodyear but now Wranglers all weather, the tyres were fitted ok, no air guns now, just the a breaker to crack the nuts and then spun off with a spider wrench, must get myself one of those..
Then wheels and nuts back on and torqued up, sticky balance weights on the back.. Great..

When I got home I did a quick check on the torque and I couldn't undo the nuts all were very tight so spent the next half hour undoing and torquing back up to spec 130Nm also checked tyre pressures, oh dear all were 37psi to has to let them down a bit, oh well thats Kwik Fit for you. :D

The End

so do you mean you have had 4 new tyres fitted, the best one that was on the car is now the spare, you choose Goodyear, then they put the nuts back on too tight and tooooo much air in! all off a Quik fit fitter!!!:behindsofa:
