Hi all,
does anyone know if 100w xenons bulbs can go straight into my 58Discovery3,replacing the 55w Halogens. Is the wire robust enough to take the new bulbs,or does this need upgrading.I am sure lots of you have far more knowledge than me on this matter
kind regards to all

First off, 100 watt headlights are unlawful (they become illegal when you get caught) in the UK; 55 watts is the maximum.

Halogen and Xenon bulbs are interchangeable; the name refers to the gas used to fill the bulb. Xenon does tend to burn brighter and whiter than halogen.

Check out the Osram Nightbreaker Unlimited range. they are claimed to be 110% brighter than halogen, but the downside is that they might not last as long.

Some motoring organisations do recommend that headlight bulbs are replaced about every two to three years due to the drop-off in performance and the glass degrading and colouring up.
