Does anyone know if there is a drain or something for the ACE fluid? My recent D2 purchase looks like the previous owner has been using ATF not the proper stuff so want to change it if possible. Also need to replace the OSF ACE ram and the ACE filter.
Many thanks

remove the filter, start the engine for 10 seconds(or watch the reservoir untill it gets empty and stop the engine then and rock the vehicle from side to side as hard as you can and most of the oil will come out this way

Thanks Sierrafery. Am I right in thinking the PAS and ACE reservoirs are separate?

Hi there.
Just to add something else that I hope is not too left of field....... you mention you're going to renew the ATF with the proper stuff, I know this has been written about before in other places, but what exactly will you put in there? I know of the LR stuff (via Paddocks for instance), yet others out there say Dexron iii is an ok substitute. Reason I ask is I have just bought a Disc 2 2001 driven it to France (400 miles) and the ACE light came on orange, then red in the last couple miles. Looked under hood today, and it's slightly low on fluid. Do I top up with Dexron 3 (available locally), and am able to use her, or will I have to wait and order the proper stuff thou Paddocks, and just look at her parked there!?
Many thanks in advance.
Rich.

I'll put whatever it says to put, but for an emergency top up I expect ATF would do?

that would be fine the its only a simple hydraulic system, lr are interested in long life oil to reduce any servicing, oils will mix ok too

I mentioned in another post a cheaper alternative which has the same specification. I ordered oil for my motorcycle from the company and it arrived the next day although I expect it would take longer to get to France.

But if the level is only "slightly low" - 1 cm? then I would not expect this to put the red light on. I would be suspecting deeper problems......

Sorry I'd not seen about the light coming on - possibly a blocked filter?

No, the warning would come on only if the level; gets so low to affect the pressure in which case the tank is empty, the fault code would help but not with nanocom
