I'm looking to replace the 3 front standard defender seats fitted to my S3 with a pair of something a bit more sporty and comfortable and not fit a centre seat this time. There are quite a few for sale on Ebay from out of Rover 25 and 45 MGs at very sensible prices. What seats have others fitted to their landies and how easy was the fit please?

Sometimes I find searching can be a bit hit and miss really...ah well.

Anyway, I fitted seats from a MK2 Astra GTE (any of the upper end Astra MK2s will do, they are fitted with Recaros...and yes, made by Recaro). They are seriously cmfy (I have done many thousand miles in them) and offer very good support.

I strenghtened the seatbase first...mine seemed very flimsy to be bolting stuff to it, so made it a bit more rigid by rivetng some panels in made a huge difference. Middle section for to access left as screws obviously..

I then made up some brackets for the seats (bolted to the origina seat brackets). Used rivet nuts for mounting...to me this was the best way, as it meant when the seats do need to come out, it will be a one person job...rather than faffing about with nuts and bolts in difficult to get places...

They look just the sort of thing I had in mind and thanx for posting the pictures, very helpful Thanx :tea:

Now please don't laugh.... but mine are from a Nissan Micra - fitted dead easy with bolt at the back of the runner and then just bent the front of the runners over the front edge of the seat box with a bolt through the front. Slide right back for plenty of room (and I ain't a little bloke) plus dead comfy too
