hi guys, after help today finding my 'rushing ' sound. and identifying the intercooler hose on my 1999 DSE.. im thinking of just changing them all incase they are getting perished after 164k...
any suggestions ? been looking online and can find a Britpart set for the 300tdi.. but dont seam to see a kit for the P38 DSE ?

cheers

Ebay is your friend. But they are not cheap at all. Alternatively try allisport.
An give your intercooler a clean out whilst your changing the hoses.

Aw you better sit down !

You can buy a rubber standard set from from most Landrover parts shops like our sponsor island ect ect the turbo hose is about £10the metal pipe to inter cooler is about £6 the inter cooler to egr is £125 if you can find one cheaper let me know as I have tried everywhere !

Be warned the turbo hose and short rubber one that connects metal to inter cooler are the same on all models ! But the intercooler to egr are completely Different in length and bends! The non egr one is £60 what a joke as the are almost similar but you can't fit the non egr one to the egr one as it rubs on the steering pump Reservoir .

If you don't have egr your alright:)
Don't buy the Ali sport silicone pipe set for non egr if you have it as the intercooler to air intake pipe will be too small in diameter ( stupid prats !) I know this as we have both cars egr and non and my brother in law bought a set for his non egr and the intake don't fit bloody idiots and they are supposed to be tuning experts :rolleyes:

So if you can get a standard intercooler to inlet manifold for less than £125 your a miracle man ps no one makes silicon for egr models only non egr!!!!!!!

Good luck:D

hmm.. i can find kits for the 200tdi, 300tdi TD5 etc.. all around £50.. but nothing for the P38.. it's actually the short straight hose needs replacing, but figured if there was a kit i'd do them all..

suggestions on how to clean the intercooler ? im not very mechanically minded, but if someone can talk me through it i will give it a go for sure..

thanks

how do i know if i have the EGR ?
sorry for sounding stupid..

Plastic manifold is egr on a range rover it will be on the end of the intake manifold your have somthing looking similar to this shape on it

thanks i will take a look.. the pipes im looking at are on the driver side.. from the front of the car.. a black rubber hose .. this connects to a steel pipe which bends down.. then a short ( 4-5" ) black rubber coupling hose onto the side of the engine ....
make any sense to anyone ?

What year is your car? Pre 99 no EGR.:)
Use Acetone to clean the intercooler. with it off the car, fill it up, give a good shake and leave overnight, shake again and empty, rinse with a little more Acetone and then leave to dry. You can buy (expensive) silicone hose for the turbo from Customer Login AP Motor Store :)

The short one with bend is called turbo pipe the short one is in the link I gave you and the last long one is called intercooler pipe

Don't forget might of had an engine change. Its a 1999 so should be egr:)

You can buy turbo standerd 90 elbow bend and short intermitant but you can't buy intercooler double bend unless you want joiners in it from ap or any supplier belive me I've investigated all angles buy new£125 or have silicon with metal joiners in no one makes egr intake hose !

yep.. ok so just went to look... took some pics, but cant figure out how to post them from my phone.. anyhow..
from the intercooler.. ( i presume at the front of the car ).. short rubber tube.( by the screen washer filler). steel tube ( towards the engine).. another short rubber hose which bends downwards..short steel angled tube.. then the short runner tune ( vertical.. and the one which sprung loose this morning ).. down onto the Engine.. ( i'm presuming this is actually the turbo ?).. i cant see anything that looks like an EGR in the chain.. just steel and rubber hose sections...

so was thinking about replacing the short rubber sections ( now totalling 3 .. having looked again ).... and the hose clips... is this special.. or can i just get it from and motor factor ? is it best to replace with silicone if it's cheap enough ???

cheers

EGR is on the inlet manifold. If the manifold is metal, no EGR if it's plastic it should have an EGR which will be the metal bit bolted onto the front end of it.

This is egr type and this is intercooler pipe

If you haven't got egr you won't have the cone round shaped egr on it
