So my footwells need replacing on the series. I've got some replacements and have approached some welding firms.

Question is; how long should the job take realistically. The bulk head is off the vehicle, but at the moment has the steering column still attached. I'll try and clear it away as best as possible for them.

The job is to cut the existing ones out, and attach the new ones.

Off the top of my head the body of the bulk head is pretty clear of rust and its just the recesses of the wells that are shot, but no doubt there will be some.

Any thoughts on hours for the job? Just want to make sure I dont get stiffed!:D

That would be 70 quid for the foot wells and 280 to fit them, so a £350 + a bit of paint.

Seems a fair bit, or am I just being tight? :p

Just have to have them give you a price. With out looking at it, it is very hard to say really how long it will take, Quality of workmanship is important, cheap price= cheap work

well be cheaper if you chop out all the old ones and prep the bulkhead ready for welding ;)

not really Doc. have seen that and was a chopped piece. making more work for the welder to fix. Let the welder do the cutting and fitting, and you should get a better job.

That would be like you cut all the lumber to length and size, and tell a carpenter to build a shed for you

That's what I was thinking Thor. Might be a bit more labour in the prep work but would be a better job overall. I dunno what the welder might need in terms of material to work with either. I'm going to met one chap over the weekend so if he's the right person I'll soon know.

Cheers

If you had it all nice and clean from dirt and had the spots to be repaired shot blasted that would be a big help to the welder. and any and all rust removed helps make a better job. I know :D

Think it is yrm makes repair panels for what you need.

What area do you live ??

No bother Stu, I'll get to the bottom of it.

Thor, I got a pair of these from a chap on ebay...Footwells

Seem ok to me and come recommended on the Series section of the forum. Not bad price when you consider the YRM prices are ex vat and delivery.
