Hi all.

Well after spending over a week getting my Landy up to MOT standards I got it out the workshop yesterday morning happy in the knowledge it would pass without a problem.
Unfortunally a couple of miles from the test station I started to loose power, looked down and saw the oil light was on, pulled over but it was took late.
Engine is knackered and had to get it towed back to the workshop.

As a saving grace I had bought another Disco as a breaker last week and still had the 300tdi lump so I'm gonna fit that.
But to make sure this doesn't happen again I'm gonna fit a new oil pump to it before it goes in.

My question is whilst the engine is out what else should I consider changing?

My list so far consists of:

Oil pump - STC3407
Cam belt
Water pump
modified lower pulley
tensioner
oil
oil filter

plus possibly sump sealer and cam cover gasket

Is there anything else I should consider before I get the engine in?

Any suggestions would be greatly appricated.

Cheers Chris

I'd check the clutch, clutch fork and release bearing before you sling the new engine in, it could save a bitch of a job if necessary .
Good luck with the transplant..

Thanks guys. Got a heavy duty clutch on my broken engine thats done about 4k so will chuck that on there.
Ah I see well the price is pretty close so probably get that one.
Didn't realise quite how much was involved in changing the pump till I started to try and strip down my engine. Hell of a mission.

I would change the P gasket as you dont want it leaking 2 months down the line. Also change the stat :) look on the engine fo any noticable oil leaks from the lift pump or vac pump as well.

Yes stat will be getting changed as I have a new one sat here. Also got a newish rocker cover gasket so will fit that along with removing the sump and re-sealing it.
