I have replaced both front ABS sensors on 1999 freelander 1.8 and lights have come back on after going over first bump ..

diagnostics show intermittent signal from passenger sensor ??

I have now replaced this sensor twice (two different makes ), taken resistance readings from both sides and they are the same .

when fitted all is good , drive it out of the garage , 3 point turn in the garden and out of the gates , as soon as it goes over a bump and on they come ..

I have also replced both ABS rings on the CVs ...

left thinking it could be bearings or cv itself ..

help please

I do not think it would be wheel bearings ,did you push the sensors completely down and with rotation of the wheel they would find their own air gap. it sounds as though you have something loose some where rather than sensors

I presume your fitted a new guide sleeve into the hub before fitting the sensors.
It sounds as if the new sensor is loose.

I did one on mine yesterday.
I had to" very carefully" drill the old one out. Took about 2 hrs.It was just one solid plug of corrosion.
New sensor came from from RT group on Ebay with a 2 year warranty.
It seemed exactly like the Wabco one it replaced.Time will tell.
Anyway it put the lights out.
Reason for change, its a long story just had clutch etc replaced due to a leaking concentric slave cylinder and while everything was in pieces I fitted new reluctor rings.
ABS Sensor was not picking up a proper signal as the spacing had altered.
As I said the old sensor was well seized so no way of readjusting the spacing.

I had sensors from a shop on eBay and the front ones were all faulty and coming with the same problem as this owner has which is why i asked who he got his sensors from once bought from a different person I had no more problems until the shuttle valves went but then that was a different fault

The first one was returned and replaced with one from a different supplier , new sleeves (copper ) and the holes in the hubs were cleaned out well (one of thI can em had to be drilled ) reluctor rings both changed ..

like I said , I fit the sensor , clear the codes turn the car around in my garden and drive down and out the driveway and first jarring bump and on it comes ... and front right sensor shows intermittant signal

I would suggest that unless the new sensor is bouncing out of the hub, then you have a break or bad contact in the wiring etc before the sensor, as others have posted.
It may even be that the 1st sensors you bought were ok.
The clue to your problem surely relates to your OP where you say"goes over a bump" repeats the fault.
