Dear all,
I removed the rear tub from my 130 for welding the rear crossmember (new one with long extensions).
So I have good access to the tank and ask myself if I replace the pump (WFX000260 ) or not. I spoke with the pre-pre-pre-owner and he said that the pump was replaced 5-7 years ago. I dont know which brand, and when I see the locking ring (ESR3808) it's hard to imagine that it has been replaced...

There are pumps available for 93€, 130€, 305€ and 402€ from bearmach, allmakes, vdo and LR.
I will not pay 400€ for that pump, thats clear. Does anybody know how's the quality difference for the cheaper ones? I mean ~100-130€ would be ok. Or are they really bad in quality and dying when I'm in the middle of africa?
Any experience with life expectancy from the brands? What would you recommend?

I think I'd rather stick with a good working one than install a new cheaper one which may be no better and have a short life anyway. Whilst these do wear out on Land Rovers there are many that have soldiered on for years. My current one will be seven years old this March, the one before that lased two years and the one before that was the original factory one from 2006, for example. If there's room, you could always take a spare.

If it was mine I'd leave it alone until it failed. I'd also form an access panel in the floor, to get at it easily when repairs are required. (assuming it is difficult to access otherwise).
