Hi Stej, happy to be of help. Mine is a W reg truck and I don't think it has got a cat, so you may not need one or need to be worried about one, but obviously you'll check for yourself, they are pretty obvious. But if it is only the flexi part that has given up the ghost then that is the only bit that needs fixing, so, if there is room, it should be possible to just put in a new bit of flexi. See this sort of thing https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/362439181727?chn=ps. But if there is no cat, then a new pipe might be less hassle. Yours being a V I think you said,should not have a CAT. New pipes come in at about 50 quid.
Remember your remark about bubbles? Could that have been coolant?

Hi @Stanleysteamer been off grid the last week or so working so only just seen this!

Decided against the de-cat. It has one in place (2004 reg) so like you I think it is best to keep it. I may replace it with a new one in time but for now it' seem's ok.

All leaks appear to have ceased which is great. Re-cleaned the MAP sensor with carbon clean, same with the MAF sensor, new air filter and obviously already done the EGR a few weeks ago. Also freed up the waste gate actuator (well my dad did for me and said this wasn't as free as it should be). Took her for a drive on Saturday and it is a different vehicle, much to my delight! Glad to have her back on the road, with more power, and sounding much sweeter than she ever has since I owned her. How much of this is due to the work I've done and how much is thanks to Dynachips fiddling I don't know but to be fair, I'm just happy to have what I have now and be back able to get out (and just in time for camping season starting next weekend!). I just need to find a big hill to make double check this has fixed my problem of no power going up it.

As for the bubbles, they where coming from where the arrow is pointing from under the gasket (this is an image from google and not my photo, I just added the arrow!). They were small and seemed to be maybe some moisture trapped, much like if you pour water in a frying pan it it sizzles, as the gasket was fully sealed with gasket sealer so don't suspect it being from here. Plus the bolts where done up good and proper and torqued. I'm happy with what I have now so not too concerend, unless you give me some dreaded bad news in which case the eye ducts may begin to leak...

Good news is I also took the opportunity to gunk and de-grease the bay before putting all the plastic covers etc. on so now I should hopefully be able to see easily where any issues are. And if not, at least getting the bits off next time will be less of a messy job...

Unfortunately that is a screw in core plug which is leaking coolant and you need to take the manifold back off to replace it or reseal it (i used PTFE tape on my existing one to cure it).

Thanks for the thanks. Great to be appreciated, but I was only telling you what I had had to do, so I am no genius. You'll have read Interceptorxj's comment re the bubbles. Looks as if eventually you'll be taking the wretched manifold off again, meanwhile you'll be carting a gallon of coolant around with you! What a bugger.

Glad to hear the truck is running really well now. They are a nice drive when they have no problems. Enjoy the good weather, happy camping!
