:welcome2:hi all , am looking for best advice and recommendation for replacing the following i.e. make and type also apart from obvious what other ancillary parts are needed here goes -

A) air bags x4 front and rear

B) brake discs x4 front and rear

C) brake pads x8 front and rear

D) brake calipers x4 front and rear

i would really appreciate some good advice and imput from you fellow rangies ..my vechicle is a late 2000 model 4.6 v8 vogue with the thor engine as the car is 10yrs old any suggestions on what else to renew at the front end i.e. track rod ends , steering bushes etc etc Everything is working fine at present but am thinking if i invest in doing this work now when i can afford to then apart from engine presently 80k then i hopefully (fingers crossed) look to have at least another 5 yrs trouble free, in anticipation many thanks for your imput, kind regards mozz:)

Hi Moz, I reckon Arnott Gen 2's are worth the few extra quid. They are cheaper from P38 Spares on Ebay than they are direct which is a bit strange. Drag link and track rods also seem to need doing at 80 - 100K miles. Made a huge difference on mine to the directional stability.
As for discs, I reckon OEM are good enough with Mintex pads, if you are flush go for EBC discs and pads, personally I wouldn't touch ****part or Bearmach for brakes.

yep I would go with that the swivels will need doing sometime but could be years the only thing I do every couple of years is take the rad out and make sure it is flushed through just to make sure the cooling is tip top

Cant see any point in replacing brake calipers themselves unless they are seized etc. Just a strip, clean and new seals to go with your new discs ans pads then it should feel like new. Only seized calipers or ones that are leaking (perhaps due to scored piston bores) need replacing.

Agree.

Dunlop air bags are fine, I put a set on my old P38 and did 20k miles with no problem and they would do another 50k I'd say.

I aso put a set of Britpart drilled discs all round and again after 20k they had no lip, were not warped and braked as well as the P38 does.

From threads/posts of others I'd say you were rather lucky with the discs - certainly wouldn't trust my family's safety with cheap aftermarket brakes! Not seen much "bad press" on the dunlop bags, and yes cheaper than Arnott, but each to their own there I guess!

The Dunlop are OE equipment and nothing wrong with them at all.

Britpart discs are not cheap aftermarket discs either. You can buy much cheaper variants. And as for the familys saftey, thats a nonsence as long they have been fitted correctly.

The Calipers would need to be in a very sorry state for me to change them, all mine were seized, took them off, chipped them, wirebrushed them, cleaned the sliders, re-built them and painted them and fitted new bleed nipples and slider boots, seems excessive to be changing them if they are recoverable, but it would save you a good 4 hours changing them, but if you have the time and patience. Did this all this week as well as fitting Bearmach discs so cannot comment on the discs yet but asked others on here and they seem to have a decent rep. We'll see
