Aside from the "it won't pass an MOT without a rear silence", I need to remove and rub down & re-spray rear box.
Having looked underneath

it appears that the silencer is clamped onto the exhaust after it passes over the rear subframe.
If I was to remove the silencer & replace it with a cheap chrome tail pipe of some sort, would this suffice until such time a I have re-sprayed the back box?

Are there any rule so n the exhaust not discharging underneath a car?
The original silencer seems to exit under the ear bumper at the moment?

I took mine off and have a side exit. I can get the full list of rules if you want but more or less as long and fumes won't enter the passenger compartment and it's not making excess noise your alright. Mine doesn't have a silencer on it and it's not loud

**its still not finished I need I put a bit of flexi in there and support the exhaust a bit better. The welder ran out of gas and had to use an exhaust clamp to secure it

Thanks for the reply

I was going to remove the rear box & replace it with something like this so it looks 'finished' but also minimalist!

All the mot will say it about the emissions, making sure the smoke doesn't enter the vehicle , the security of the exhaust and the presents of a dpf and cat if fitted.
