removing rear drive shaft

is it possible to remove the rear driveshaft to make the freelander 2 wheeldrive?

just remove the propshaft - :search: for "Mondo mode".

There is no such thing as a 1.8 TD4

the 1.8 is a K series Petrol and the TD4 is a 2.0 Doozil :rolleyes.

thanks again i am just about to buy this freelander and was informed it was a 1.8 by the seller. might be a bit more than i bargained for? its a BMW engine i think, any ways thanks for the help and i will check on this before i buy

if it is a 1.8 - then RUN!

The serious advice here is do NOT buy a petrol Freelander. These are either a 1,8 Litre, straight 4, known as the K series, or a 2.5 Litre V6. Don't touch either of them.

If its a TD4 then its a 2 litre. Its Diesel and its so much better for you and your bank balance.

Wot Darmain says. DON'T, DON'T, DON'T buy a petrol Freelander. only buy a 2 litre diesel model either the 1997-2000 Rover L-Series engine model or the 2000-2006 BMW Td4 engine model. Rover engine is simpler, a little slower & less refined but bombproof as long as you change the cambelt regularly - BMW engine is more refined, a little faster, has a timing chain but is sometimes let down by sensors & pricey injectors failing but basic engine is also bombproof.

yep, DO NOT buy a petrol Freelander. Notorious for head gasket failure and very difficult to sell on at a later date.

have looked again at freelander and it is definately a TD4 desiel. seller has taken it to garage for service before selling . so thats cool?

Give some details like price, mileage, year, condition, service history etc. & the guys here can advise on whether it seems to be a reasonable buy. Also check Autotrader & ebay to get an idea. Some people are unrealistic in what they expect for their wagons.
