Removing 4.0 Engine- Update! Still need advice

Hi, Been struggle to remove Torque Converter bolts, that has now been over come. I still dont see how the Air-con Rad can be moved out the way without de-gassing, this has wasted some time now, everything removed/undone, but the drier near offside fog light is restricting movement of the rad. So to de-gas the system do i just press both valves on the bulkhead (havent got instructions printed off, disc drive broke on laptop) Thanks Colin
 
you dont have to remove the aircon rad just the normal rad, take the water pump off the engine, put a sheet of ply/metal or whatever infront of the engine just so it doesnt lurch forward and damage anythings and life the engine out.

ive done this several times myself and its a piece of cake. assuming you have lifting tackle. remember to sling the engine in a nose up attitude so it clears the mountings, make sure you wedge the torque converter in so it doesnt drop out and so its still aligned when you put engine back in. do check it though!!!
 
Just like ^^^ they said, just take out the water rad, unbolt the aircon pump off the mounting bracket and pull to one side same with the power steering pump, sling the engine and yank it out.... simples!! take care not to knock the torque converter out as you will have atf all over the place plus extra work to put back together!! the block will stay at least 6" away from the rads no problem, done mine over the last couple of weeks in and out on my own no problems.......... just gotta get the thing started now!!!

Hi, Thanks everyone for replies. The situation is that im using a engine hoist to lift engine out, so its been at the back of my mind that i might not get it high enough, are you advising me use slings under the engine, and dont bother the proper lifting plates. Colin
 
I just use a ratchet strap looped under each engine mounting and joined at the top of the engine, then put the hook on the crane tight down on the block, this will stop the engine swinging about and help with the stability so as not to have the crane arm to high.

i had a block and tackle that was suspended at least 10 feet above the car and had no height issues, plus it was on a ramp!! i used a mixture of lifting engine and lowering car!!!

probably why it was a piece of the preverbial!!
