remove propshaft

hi all

ive just been told that the bearings have gone in the prop somewhere on my freelander T plate, hence grinding noise, im thinking of removing the whole prop, ive heard and read its more economical and a better drive afterwards, any hints or tips on removal? and is it quite easy to do for a D.I.Yer,

...though if it is only the vcu bearings, it's not an expensive job to rectify.
