Remote door lock problem

Remote door lock problem. 1995 300TDi 3 door Discovery...

Hi all,

I have a problem with my drivers door lock. The key remote operates both lock and unlock. But, when I 'unlock' I have to put the key in the lock afterwards to just turn that fraction more to open the door, otherwise I cant open it.

Can anyone offer suggestions on whether this is a wear problem or a set up problem and what the likely repair required is? Also, is this a common fault on Discoverys?

Depends on your definition of common but it happens, one symptom according to the info in the forums is after unlocking the door pin pops up but then drops down halfway therefore requiring the use of a key to lift it up.

What's a "selonoid" ?
D1 doors locks are activated remotely by an actuator which has motor inside it's housing, no solenoid's involved with D1s locking system.
