recently bought a 1995 m reg 300tdi which, it has cental locking, but was supplied with out remotes, so i got my self onto ebay and bought two Lucus 3txa two button remotes, and tried to programme them in using the following procedure:

1. Ensure ignition is OFF, doors unlocked, bonnet switch closed.
2. Ensure procedure from 3 to 9 is completed within 8 seconds.
3. Switch Ignition ON
4. Switch Ignition OFF
5. Lock Doors and Unlock Doors
6. Release Bonnet Switch
7. Switch Ignition ON
8. Switch Ignition OFF
9. If alarm is set, horn will sound and LED with light. Now programming of plips can be completed.
10. Press and hold down button on plip until LED flashes.
11. Repeat for additional plips.
12. The dash LED will extinguish if both plips have been programmed successfully.

I get to the flashy LED part but it doesnt do anything when i press either button of either remote? Have i got the wrong remotes? have i got the wron programming instructions?

Thanx in advance

I also have a 300 tdi 1995, and I required a new alarm remote.
The dealer said that my remote was obsolete that was in 2004, so I had to have a new alarm fitted.
If you buy off Ebay make sure it's for a 1995 car.
And the remote only has one button.

The remote you need is probably the single button one, and being 1995 it is more than likely 433mhz rather than 418mhz. I have only ever been able to find a replacement at Land Rover Discovery I Key Fob.

I have tried on ebay for nearly 18 months to get a 433mhz one without success. I suppose I'll have to bite the bullet and pay for a new one.

Single button fob Remote Key supply them, then the programming function you list will work.

With a two button system you wouldn't be able to start the engine without the fob as the vehicle has passive immobilision fitted as standard, that is unless it has been removed.

I also have just bought a 1995 Disco V8 ES and need a remote as I only have 2 keys. Can anyone tell me is the central locking remote as well or just the alarm and immobiliser???

Yeah it should be.

Why are all these cars getting bought/sold without the remotes? Where do they go? Mine's on the key ring that the key is on and I can't see why you'd ever take it off.

Anyway.....best of luck with it.

my disco is a 95 m reg and my fob as only one button, i bought one of ebay @£24, that was supplied by "famous four" @ louth in lincolnshire,, tel 01507 609444 hope this helps

hi,

i have now bought two LUCTXTJ1 remotes which i am told are 433mhz, but still cant get them to program up!! what am i doing wrong???

Without watching you programe your fobs I haven't a clue what your doing wrong.:)
Are you sure that you have the right frequency, it was 418MHz upto vin LA081991 then 433MHz upto vin MA12592 that's when the two button fob system was introduced.

I just follow the procedure on the first page get to the point where the horn beeps and press and hold a button on the remote . . . And nothing?

Hello,

I am in Australia. I have a 1995 TDI Disco Auto. It was made in 1995 (name plate) but the rego says it is a 1996. It has central locking, alarm and immoboliser (factory fitted). It has the 2 button remotes.

One of the remotes does not work any more (intermittant). I have tried replacing the battery a few times. Electronics look ok (does not work even without the case, so not a case problem). The book states that mine is 315MHz.

Has anyone tried a universal learning remote (about $15) and used a working remote to train the universal ?

Intermittant fobs can be sometimes be down to loose connection/ broken track within the fob that can be repaired by re-soldering, they can also loose their 'tuning' according to Remotekey.
The only remote that will work is a similar one and that will have to be programmed via Testbook or similar.

my disco was registered in 1995 and has a 2 button remote, my alarm module is an amr4886.

find out which alarm unit you have or tell us your vin number.

if it needs a 2 button remote you can't program it, it has to be done via a code reader that can also program keys. 1 button remotes you can do.

you can un-imobilise it buy using the EKC and the drivers door lock.

picked up a N reg disco at the weekend it only came one key and one alarm fob number AMR4874

is it worth disconecting the alarm as if i lock it via keys the alarm is on, would that work

will be looking to order one from the link uncle fester put up, but do not wish to be unable to start it it the fob fails

thanks
