Hi there, we have got a 95 300TDI ES, does anyone know how to sinc the remote central locking keyfobs to the disco?

We are in the process of fitting a replacement central locking ECU (just got one off of Ebay for £9.95, waiting for it to arrive), which hopefully is the cause of our central locking issues. We have already checked the door solenoids and wires etc, and they all seem OK.

After changing the ECU we have been advised that we will then need to sinc the keyfobs to the disco (it is the single blipper keyfob rather than the double blipper - don't know if that makes any difference)?

Hope you can help.

Procedure for re-programming Landrover discovery remote transmitters.

Start with the doors shut,
drivers’ window open, bonnet up but the bonnet switch held down (I use a tin of paint or something similar) and the key in the ignition.

The first part of the procedure has to be completed within ten seconds.

Ignition on
ignition off
lock doors (using the sill switch)
unlock doors (using the sill switch)
move the tin of paint, (or release the bonnet switch)
lock doors (using the sill switch)
unlock doors (using the sill switch)
ignition on
ignition off

if you carried the above out correctly the horn should have sounded momentarily, the indicators flashed and the red LED indicator on the dash should now be illuminated. If not you must start again.

Now press and hold the first transmitter button, the light on the transmitter should flash rapidly while receiving the signal from the system and after about five seconds the LED on the dashboard should blink once and remain lit, that is the first one done.
Now press and hold the second transmitter button and the same thing should happen to the light on the transmitter and after about five seconds the red LED on the dashboard will go out.

Job done!!

If you only have one working transmitter you can do it to the same one twice to complete the sequence on the car.

I have done this many times without any problems and with a bit of practice and forethought it can be done in less than two minutes

Hi, we have tried the above several times, but it doesn't seem to work for us. The LED indicator on the dash doesn't flash and the indicators don't flash - does it matter that ours is a single blipper not a double? We tried it with both of our keyfobs and get the same problem each time.

Anything further we could try?

Thanks

If you have a two buttom fob it won't as the info is for a single button fob. To sinc an existing two button fob to the alarm ecu is simple, just press the lock button 3 or 4 times, it's usually done after you have replaced the fob battery cell.

If you have a new/replacement ecu and you wish to retain your existing fobs then you will have to have the fobs programmed to the that ecu not synchronised.

This can be done by companies like Remote key who will require some info from you ie. the ecu ID and also the fobs so give them a call, they are very helpfull i'm told.

Thanks for that, we did have to fit a replacement ECU to get the central locking to work, so it sounds like we will need to have our existing fobs programmed then - we will look into the contact you have recommended.

Thanks for your help.
