Eas Has Been A Bit Erratic/Slow Of Late & Had Osf Height Sensor Replaced But Have Read Warnings About Act Now To Avoid Hefty Bills. Compressor Seems Very Hot Is It Worth A New Seal /piston Repair Kit As Seen On E-bay Shops As Preventative Or Would There Be An Underlying Problem ? ANY WISDOM APPRECIATED

Yes,rebuild the compressor - but it will soon be worn out again if the car is wasting air via leaks or worn height sensors.Best thing to do is to get a decent indy to do a full health check on it.

Bought the piston & seal from Rover Renovations in the States (Cheaper than Ebay-and he supplies the U.K.seller) and it's a doddle to fit. My origional piston and cylinder were undamaged just the seal was shot. Funnily enough, the seal is cheaper on Ebay than from the States!! and I will get one and refurbish my spare piston assembly in case I need it.
When I stripped the compressor down, I was amazed it managed to work at all given the state of the seal.

Spot on Boys, wonder if it is worth just having a look first & see if teflon seal is shot & going down the easy road of elimination if there is such a thing!!Once up the suspension doesn't drop & don't notice the compressor on unduly might be lucky .Is there a HOW TO section on here for this & other diy? Thanks for comments

Threads a tad duplicated but just for closure I did get the repair kit, teflon seal , off e-bay & all for now is well again. Instructions that came with the kit were helpful but a "HOW TO..." on this repair for this section from an experienced diy'er who can upload the pics would be valuable.
Got so much good help on a Merc. forum that adopts this approach for DIY.
