I want to take off my tow hitch and put jate rings on for better approach angles,would it be better with two and create a bridle or would one be enough, I don't do heavy mud n stuff this will be a just in get out of jail card

Your thoughts please
 
for the cost of it and the time taken two is always better, think of the time its buried in mud right over the only recovery point you have, then it will seem that the extra cost and ball ache would have been worth it.
 
No haven't taken the tow hitch off yet but I'm going to, I know I said I don't do heavy mud but I have a friend I go out with but I don't trust him for a steady pull he's a100mph everywhere sort I'm in the process of trying to get slow down and take he's time a bit

Fit 2, get a small bridle and when you do venture off road, two shackles and a bungee cord secure it to the vehicle and your spare ;)

Been upto the sills in gloop and needed to get to the rings and never made the same mistake again, hop out, hook up and enjoy the rest of the day :D
 
Thanks for your thoughts guys got the wd40 on all the tow hitch bolts so hopefully should be a bit easier to under everything

Youl need more than wd40 if theyve been in years they will be seized.

The head and nut snapped off mine so out came the oxy tank then knocked them through.
 
Also the bolts that go thru the rear cross member. Are 19mm nut and bolt. Bumper should come off to access but i managed to get spanner on nut and get them off without removing so try that before taking bumper off.
 
If you can weld and feel confident in your welds you could make something like this?


Admittedly I over engineered it but at least it isn't going anywhere! :D

Mostly made from 8mm and 20mm thick steel and then parts of the old tow bar which is pretty thick in itself.

Doesn't act like a plough like a tow bar does either.
