Hi Guys,

Just a quick question, what is the best way to get my 2000 TD5 Disco off the drive and onto a recovery truck while the suspension is on its ass?

To cut a long story short, I have a problem with the rear air suspension. Replaced both air bags and changed ride height sensors, still wont sit up. Bloody thing. Anyway, it seems there is nobody within 100 miles with a nanocom that could possibly help me, so Im going to have to recover it to a local indy LR specialist.

However, as I have replaced the airbags and sensors and it still wont sit up, Im afraid that letting someone else recover it might damage the bags and/or the sensors. Is there anything I can do to prevent any damage?

Any and all ideas welcomed.

get them to winch it up the truck backwards. If you do it forwards it will dig the tow bar in especially when unloading. Make sure the winch cable is made slack after strapping it down. If the cable is pulled tight the suspension could try to self level and burn the motor out. If I remember right there is a switch or fuse in the side of the load area of the boot to disable the pump.

Did you read my last post on this subject... regarding e mailing nick whos about 50 miles away and has a nanocom

Sorry Swampey mate, I did mean to reply, but trying to run a house like mine with only 1 car makes everything a pain in the ass.

I had already sent him an email through his website (using the nanocom locator), about 2 days before you mentioned it. I got a response within a couple of days, asking what the problem was. I gave him a quick breakdown, and a link to my forum post for some in depth reading. Since then, a couple of weeks has passed and Ive had no response. I guess he is just busy or its one of those problems he doesnt want to get involved with.

Interestingly, 3 days after my last post on the suspension issue, the gearbox went on our 2008 Vectra! So, no cars. 3 bloody cars on my drive and none worked! Luckily, that one is covered by AA and still (just) under warranty. Now got a 2009 Mondeo hire car - a vast improvement on the Vectra, but still not a Landy.

Ive still got my fingers crossed for a nanocom fairy to come to my rescue, but as you can tell from this post, I cant wait much longer. Im going to have to get it recovered and eat less for a month lol.

Hi,

Is it really weeks ago I sent a reply....................jeez time flies my apologies....I have been working lots recently including weekends, had no time to even turn PC on tbh, been sleep then work then sleep and not much else tbh :(

I have just read through all the post etc again, and to me it sounds as if there maybe an issue with one of the valves in the compressor assy (probably "weak" over pressure / exhaust valve) which I'm sure your aware are not available to buy on their own unfortunately........

It would be a bit daft to come all that way just to possibly confirm that, so really need a spare compressor to throw in to see. I have one here at home and sometime between now and the weekend I'll throw it in mine and confirm it all works, if its all good then I could maybe come up sat or sun ? and see what we can find out......

Is your compressor still "stuck" on the chassis due to the broken nut / bolt issue ? if so I'll need to bring "stuff" to sort that out.

You have replaced the bags yes ? If so were they the new "push fit" connectors ?

Offcourse it may just need height sensor calibration, but till its "plugged in" we won't know. I cannot be sure I can help, but im willing to give it a go ;)

Let me know if the weekend is good for you.

Before you go spending loads of money can I suggest that you check the compressor fuseable link in the engine bay fusebox - it's a 30a fuseable link.

Mine blew and I went around the houses worrying about spending out on a new compressor until some kind soul suggested checking the fuse, sure enough that's what is was and no troubles since.

Let me know if the weekend is good for you.

Im always a man of lots of words. I honestly dont know what to say.

First of all thankyou.

Secondly, the weekend is yours. All plans can and have been cleared. You can have any time at all Saturday or Sunday. Whatever time is most convenient to you. You have a pm with my details.

Yes, new bags, new ride height sensors. The bags were the new pushfit. Leak tested and leak free. I havent tackled the bolt issue yet, as I was holding out on removing it but if it has to be done, I can probably have that off before you get here.

Thirdly, thankyou again.
