Well we have a garages to avoid thread. Well thats good but where to take our pride and joys. So put who they are, where they are, what you got!

Starting off!

Bloody brilliant and very rare to not have what you need in stock great guy. I have them on speed dial and satnav, first choice for parts.

Reconditioned part, knowledgeable friendly free advice happily given!

Rang up after referral for work offered advice to get part have a go (he explained in great detail what to do) and said if I get stuck ring them and he will collect and finish work on an hourly bassis but said roughly how long it would be and rough cost! Again advice freely given knowledgeable and seemed honest will update after they carry out the work.

To be honest you'd do a good job to find a garage around here that charges less than £45 an hour.

Most places round here are £60 + an hour so yeah £45 is cheap, plus Ben is a bloody good spanner monkey and he's honest too, which seems to be quite rare these days!

we charge £40ph+vat and customers moan at that, but i know i am one of the cheapest around our area and we are very busy so im happy with that, but would love to beable to charge £60ph

Durham 4x4, very good to deal with, charge £45 +VAT per hour and if they can see an alternative cheaper way of fixing a problem they will let you know, even if it means them loosing the job to another place.

A good example of this is the front flexi joint of my exhaust is blowing (advisory on MOT yesterday). Durham 4x4 told me, instead of replacing the front pipe, to have a word with a local exhaust specialist who has cut out the flexi and replace it for around £60 for another owner in the past.

I've always had excellent service from Harris-Mayes Country Cars in Rickmansworth.

A small independent Land Rover specialist staffed by people who seem enthusiastic about the brand.

Three Pines Garage (Bromyard) Very understanding with classics and older land rover MOT'S Top quality work and nice guys.

Docklow land rover (5 miles from Bromyard) Cheap prices and parts and high quality repair work especially on older land rovers. Always busy though so expect it to take a while to fix your land rover

They must be good for you travel all that way for a service!

Hey Fellas

for those of you in Sussex and Surrey with late-model vehicles, you should be using DAS Landrover in Horley, near Gatwick. 01293 825633.

He has just completed a huge repair on my mate's 2004 TD6 RR Vogue and did a fantastic job - as usual with this vehicle the gearbox expired at 80,000 miles

works as follows.

1.fit new gearbox, torque convertor and oil cooler('box is 1600 exchange plus VAT)
2.carry out FULL service
3.replace turbo breather filter
4.renew front anti-roll bar drop links
5. fit new brake pads
6.Clear down fault codes and reset service indicator

Cost - £2716 including VAT - amazing if you factor in all the work involved and the cost of the gearbox itself.

Bob is a smashing bloke and he has the latest AutoLogic Landrover software which costs him a fortune every year but gives him access to all the latest updates etc.

He has fixed prices for most routine things and charges £220 plus Vat for a full diesel service and £240 for a full V8 petrol service.

Otherwise his labour rate is £45 plus VAT per hour.

He is also one of the very few independents authorised to do Land Rover warranty work so bear that in mind as well.

He does not have a fleet of courtesy cars nor does he have a 2 grand espresso machine but he does a damn good job.

We are very fortunate that in our neck of the woods we also have Derek Allfrey Landrovers in Billingshurst- he is great for the older stuff, chassis swaps , LPG conversions etc and we have DAS for the new stuff.
