hi all, I want to replace my radio cassette player in the P38 for a cd/radio player with bluetooth, does anyone have a good repacement they could recommend, cheers, Ian

I took a slightly different approach and instead fitted a Parrot MKI 9200 kit. Now have iPhone, iPod, mp3 player etc compatibility. Works really well with the Harmon Kardon factory fit speakers & amps.

A lot simpler than changing out head units. Not that cheap though, as cost around £170.00 with apropriate adaptor!

Anyway, just a thought

Hi Fitted this Pioneer unit 3 weeks ago to my 1999 DSE. Fits a treat easy to use with your blue tooth phone and is also an MP3/Ipod/Iphone controller. Comes with a tiny mic for making phone call. Sound is very good and powers all my speakers (10)correctly. Have fitted a few Alpine/Clarion/Kenwood units in my past cars, but this is the most usefull. Good price too and recommend these people to buy from. Don't forget you need the head unit trim bits when you remove the OEM unit. Regards Dean

Does yours have the amplifiers in the doors? Also remotes on the steering wheel?

How does it all connect in?

Not sure about the amps. But it is 10 speakers and just plugged in with the ISO socket. No steering controls, but I think this is an option. I am very pleased with the performance.

Ok, you don't have amps in the doors i.e. non Karmon Hardon. Head units can be a straight swap in this case. The problems come with trying to mate head units with the HK amps and steering wheel controls. Not such a straight swap then.

I agree with you for the moment. I had mine done at Clarion a couple of years ago. They added a flying lead for the iPod/MP3 etc and refurbished the whole thing. Superb service. I was thinking maybe DAB but I believe this is a) not all it's cracked up to be and b) won't be taking over from FM any time soon.

totally agree i think the whole DAB thing is a waste of time. I know for some the sight of the standard stereo makes them want to change it but it really is a good stereo setup you cant fault, ok it doesnt have all the gadgets new head units have but why lose the steering wheel controls and have to mess with the wiring! just my opinion.

I binned all the lot, fitted Pioneer/Swiss Audio with cd/MP3/USB/Tuner etc. All door speakers fiited in the HK units, Sub woofer Amp in the back were the cd changer was with a 10in speaker, new tweeters fitted in the original cover units on the front doors.
This unit comes with a remote control, very handy, and the sound is awsome. Total cost including fitting, about $ 500, well worth it
