Hi, I wondered if anyone had replaced their back box section on their TD4 Freelander? My Landy is a 2006 model and the exhaust a rusting damaged mess. I looked on ebay and there are numerous options from as little as £35. Has anyone bought and fitted these. Is it a simple DIY job? Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

Andy

Ses88 does a nice small one.............

Cheap ones are just that : cheap, probably won't last long and often sound very tinny and nasty!

My '06 was rusting on top. Replaced with a custom stainless steel one organised by SES88. Sounds great and the turbo does spool up quicker. It is small and shouldn't get damaged when off road.

To be honest you get what you pay for with a £30 exhaust box... Yes mine are £160, but they're stainless, and will last longer than the car, where as your £30 box will need replacing every year (there was a brand new Genuine box fitted to my car when I got it 2yrs ago, its been knackered for a few months now, very crusty etc)

Check out euro car parts they often have sales on the better quality parts. I got a bosel (?) one for 45 a while back and still as good as new 6+ months on

you asked if its an easy job,its dead easy.Bear in mine that when lying on your back or side and exhaust is undone, its suddenly bloody heavy.Mine had a strange sized bolt on the clamp,so I cut it off and got new clamp.Have a look first and see what you've got.Only the one bolt,(2 nuts if a U bolt)and a couple of rubber ring/hooks.
