Hi , Iam looking to fit a boost gauge and rev counter to my 300tdi Defender. Could anyone recomend one or both and what to look out for. Oh I would prefer the rev counter to be fitted in the spare binnacle slot ( not bothered about a clock) Thanks in advance guys.

I got some cheapy ones off eBay, rev, boost and voltmeter. VM lasted about 5 yrs the others are now 11 yrs old and still going.
50mm/2" is what you want, if you don't have a 'W' terminal on your alternator you can't fit a rev counter. Look for diesel 4 cylinder rev counters, petrol ones won't work.

For a rev counter I went for the VDO, more expensive but better looking and a better match for the existing guages and very good quality.
I wouldn't bother with permanently installing a boost guage, it's only use is when inially setting up your boost. Once you know your maximum boost pressure it's not going to change. So I'd recommend buying a cheapy boost guage, set it up temporarily, get you max boost where you want it and then remove it.
Of much more use if you are performance tweaking is an EGT guage, if you don't have one a bit of research will reveal it's importance.

Make sure you get a sensible scale in your boost gauge. Standard engine is going to push 1 bar = 14.5psi
I was conned by a salesman in to buying a 4 bar gauge, so the needle doesn't move very much. A larger scale deflection gives a clearer picture of what's going on.
