I'm in the process of rebuilding an 88" S3 pick-up.

I've pretty much got how I'm going to proceed sorted out in my head, except for the doors. Both tops are shot, so I am going to replace them.
The Ally skins are ok, but the steel frames are corroded in the corners and not offering much support.

Do I just get new doors, or do I replace or repair/patch the frame?
Can I get a new frame for them?

Please forgive my ignorance this is my first landy rebuild.

Cheers

Chris

Kinnell! I am going to get some Box Section and make my own

My doors ain't to bad, the bottom rail has started to go underneath but nothing you could not sort!

makin doors aint as easy as it sounds
for a start they not made from box section steel they are a pressed out section with flat out turned edges to bend the skin over

there are also a surprising amout of diffrent sections to a door there is the main flat panel, then you got the section that houses the handle and lock and to top it all off there is the bend at the top and that will be almost impossible to make at home

for the sake of around £100 each you can have brand new door bottoms and fully glazed tops or just the bottom for £50 and empty tops for £20 from paddocks
it will give a better job with no hassle

wheres the fun in just buying brand new replacement parts when you could spend hours messing with old rusty bits of metal, some sheet steeland a bench folder ?

spoil sport

that i will never deny

but im a welder and mechanic and i know i woudnt start making them from scratch maybe a corner repair yes but total build or even make a new frame its just not woth the greaf

bench folder? more like two bits of heavy angle iron in the vice and a heavy hammer, oxy acet and a grinder  why do i bother

The steel door tops are ****. If the budget will stretch that far get some ex army alloy framed door tops or rocky mountain ones. Otherwise fill them with waxoil.

I've been drooling over the Rocky Mountain tops for about the last week now, just can't afford them right now.
But I didn't know the military ones were alloy
