L322 Rear Wiper

So my rear wiper has never worked since i bought it. No big deal. I saw online the drive gear is a common fault so bought one ready and yesterday i fitted it.

However, when i turn ignition on the wiper starts even though it switched off!?! It then parks in a random place. If i switch it on and off 4 times it then parks correctly.

Any suggestions?

Had something similar with mine (though not the switch it on and off 4 times it then parks correctly bit) which turned out to be the motor seizing up. Cleaned and greased the gears, stripped and rebuilt the motor and all's good. Did you buy a new or used wiper motor?

I rebuilt my original with a new gear. Everything cleaned up and freed off.

Was the motor free without the gear installed?

Just found the magnet in the old wheel. Covered by the grime so unseen!

Hopefully, just got to spend some time taking it all apart again
