as it was warm the other night I decided to leave my rear side windows half way down during my night shift at work, come to get in it in the morning and for the life of me can I put them back up no ☹️

Tried all electric switches but for some reason can't get them back up, any ideas peeps

Freelander 1 sport facelift 2004 v6

Separate fuses from what I can see, just weird how both stopped working at the same time and both in the same position halfway down as I left them. can't be a motor issue unless I'm really unfortunate and both gone at the same time lol,

The cables rust through and snap when they get to one of the rollers. It's possible that they have both snapped. But very unusual for them both to fail at the same moment.
You can check the power drain by watching for dimming of the interior light, when the window switches are pressed. Keep the engine off though, or the current drain is tiny.

No light dim mate and I've just changed all fuses and still the same Only thing I can think of is it was locked with the windows open and some titt from work decided put stuff in my boot with them sticking out the car trying to be a funny bugger. Wondering if it's triggered some kind of failsafe.....no idea I'm lost lol

Are any of your windows opening or closing?
Have you perhaps pressed the switch to disable windows being opened?
I think there is one on the drivers door handle.

I know what you mean now yes, no front ones work fine and the tailgate is fine just both rears stuck halfway down

You can. The disabling switch is the rocker behind the rear window switches on the driver's door control panel. Circled red in this image. View attachment 125954

Tried that switch and still no. Is that just for the rears or will it stop the front also, because it doesn't stop the front so I'm thinking maybe a fuse or wire for that switch has gone whilst my rears were down

try taking the battery off and then back on and try the windows then but do not for get you will need your code for your radio.
Tried that mate, didn't work either.

Am I right in saying there's a relay for the back two windows or is it just for the big tailgate window. I've changed all the fuses but wondering if I switch a relay with another and see if that works. Just unsure if the rears have one

It looks like the rear windows are under CCU control. So it must be something to do with a common component.
Here's the wiring diagram for the rear windows.

It looks like fuse 18, the time out relay and the CCU aare common to both rear windows.
