The rear sliding windows in my 1988 110 are worn out. They rattle a lot, and the seals have shrunk, cracked, and are filled with sealant. There's also a lot of flex in them, and they can be pushed in and out about 20mm, which makes me think the opening in the side panel might be too large for them.

I've measured the windows, and they're 427x1100, which is not the standard size. Interestingly, they have a registration number etched into the glass, in the same manner as all the other windows, but it's not my vehicle's registration. When I checked the DVLA checker, the vehicle associated with that number is still on the road, so must have donated its rear end as some point. Maybe someone swapped a van back for a CSW back with the previous owner, but it's clearly not originally a CSW back, as the support rails that should cross the window have been crudely cut.

So, what would you suggest? Should I replace the side panels, get custom-made windows, or try to reduce the size of the opening? What's the best solution?

I'm about to put 88 sides on mine (ie no windows)

It's either that, or get a pair of new windows.
