rear window problem, can't recalibrate

Hi, new to this forum.

Having issues with our trusty freelander 03 sheep shifter!
Tailgate window will not come down, wiper and demister do not work and we get 4beeps when we press the button.

I have searched for similar issues and have tried to recalibrate by
removing the neg lead from battery and replacing after various lengths of time to no avail.

We also don't seem able to get the ecu to go into test mode using the fog lamp sequence, and have tried lifting hardtop and replacing.

Has anyone got any other suggestions or is it gonna be expensive ?

any ideas much appreciated, thanks in advance.

is it really a sheep shifter??
if so, my bodge is cheap as chips, ok, I no longer get a rear wiper or heated rear screen, but I can open and close the rear door, without ever having to worry about that poxy window again

Thanks for your reply essexpestcontrol that looks like a very effective bodge as we have had many issues with the rear window, and will save us having to lift the roof to close the door LOL

Our TD4 genuinely is used to pull a smallish sheep trailer on a regular basis as well as collecting dumpies of feed etc. We've had all the usual niggles but is a good enough workhorse for us without the crazy road tax!!

Its just a shame about the previous owner's body kit choice LOL

when mine went kaput, it was shut, didn't think about lifting the rear off, as ours is a workhorse for carrying logs and tools from our wood, it needed opening, I used a glass sucker to force it down a few millimeters so it would open-close, yes it beeps when I lock it, as it thinks a window is open, but it works, it didn't cost anything to bodge,

Hi you need to get the tailgate door card off and have a look ..sounds like broken regulator cable ...
or could be the wiring in the tailgate is in the way and stopping the glass from dropping.
can you hear the motor trying to work when you press the dash button for the rear window?

Heated rear window, rear wiper will not work until you manage to calibrate the window - which wont happen till you get it working

we have had the rear door card off, regulator cable looks intact and wiring ok. Motor is trying,giving out a hum when you press the window up button but no noise when you try and get it to go down. We have tried lifting and putting back the hard top in case this has an effect, now stumped!! hope this makes sense!

Ok .. is the rear wiper parked correctly - on the rubber bit at the bottom of the glass?

Hi again. We have moved the wiper around manually and bingo we have a working window! Thanks very much for your help ...I can fill it back up with pushchair and baby stuff again which will cheer my husband up no end!!
