HI have 98 freelander 3 door model.
Recently my wife decided to sit in the car by the beach with the ignition on and radio whilst she had lunch.
When she came to start the car the battery was dead.
When jump started car the rear window came down and made a beep noise, and since then if you try and put the rear window up using switch it goes to the top beeps then returns back to fully open.
If you try and close it halfway again it beeps and opens fully. now the only way to close the window is to use the key in the rear door and when it reaches the top hold the window to stop it coming down, you here the beep then it stays in position.
However as soon as you open the rear door it opnes fully again and stays until you repeat with key.

I have tried the battery disconect re-calibrate and when it put ignition back on and raise window it beeps again and goe back down.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Reet Andy . . . .sounds like its still out of calibration ,go into the common faults section and look fer [freelander-everything you need to know] by the flippy flop hat man, page 2 at the bottom, and he gives the correct procedure fer recalibration. . . . . .hope this helps yer :) :) :)

just to clarify points raised about calibration. page 66 of manual states under "battery disconnection":

"If the battery has been disconnected, the taildoor glass will need to be recalibrated. If the alarm was armed when the battery was disconnected (or discharged), disarm the alarm after reconnection - the glass will fully lower. This will happen automatically if the alarm was in a disarmed state when that battery was disconnected.

After battery reconnection, fully raise the glass - the taildoor glass is now recalibrated (if the glass is not fully raised, an error 'beep' will sound)."

Optimus has kindly found the correct procedure fer ya. . . . .if after trying the proper recal its still giving the warning bleep, check ya roof switch [3 door only ,for fitting of soft top] . . . .:)

ITS IN THE RHS OF ROOF[3 DOOR ONLY] its to stop the wipers goin when soft top is fitted ,so a good test is when you shut it using the door, put on rear windows to see if they work [if not] then check out the switch, you know its not the window drive ,and it wont re call so worth a try. . . .:)

i know its been a while but.

I looked at the rear window switch, appears ok, still no difference to the window though. But noticed that the rear wiper or heated window no longer works, does that mean it is the switch?
