Rear wheel bearing and diff check how is it done

I would be interested to here how to check the rear wheel bearings and rear diff with out going to a garage
 
you need to put your car up on axel stands and with the handbrake of and front wheels chocked ,grab hold of you wheel and see if you can move it like pressing with one hand while pulling on the opposite side with the other hands at 3. and 9 o'clock then with you hands at 6 and 12 o'clock. if there is no movement then all should be fine if you get some movement get somebody to help and see if the tie rods bushes are ok will you still waddle the wheel now onto the rear diff just push the back diff up and down if it moves a lot have a closer look at the bearing in the front of the diff, now do the same with the drive shafts going into the diff ,if there is a lot of movement then it more than likely wants seeing to or get a good second hand one hope this helps.
