Rear view camera.

Hi All,

I'm looking for a bit of advice please, I'm thinking of installing a reversing camera on my Evoque pure tech 2014. I have a genuine camera and housing installed in the tailgate with the tailgate wiring. The head end unit says "Park assist camera....shutdown ....available " Does this mean I just need to run a cable from the back to the unit and then get someone to activate the settings?

If the wires are already in the tailgate to plug into the camera then maybe it needs a software update or ecu programming.

Very unlikely that you will need to run a cable as all signals use the CANBUS system on modern vehicles. The camera will need to be programmed in to the appropriate ECU's

Hi Guys, Thanks for the advice, I should have mentioned that the car didn't come factory fitted with a reversing camera, I have obtained a replacement tailgate after a recent mishap and the replacement is off a dynamic that came fitted with a camera. I have a 2014 Evoque Pure tech SD4 manual shift.

It's still likely that the connection for the camera will be there but it may be via a dedicated ECU that is missing knowing JLR.

Ok Thanks I'm taking it to a ex landrover tech garage I'll ask him to check it out.

Hi Guys, I have connected the camera up and lo and behold as mentioned no image, the settings on the infotainment centre probably need changing but I guess they have to be programmed by a technician with a computer.
