Have you checked the condition of the shock rubbers behind them? They fail for a pastime on Landrovers. New rubbers and retighten, the nuts are probably fine.

Depends, mine were working loose and it turned out that the light rusting of the exposed threads was affecting the ability of the nyloc to do it's job of locking the nut on the threads as it gaulled the nylon ring on tightening.
Yes the thread is 12mm metric, can be found in B&Q for pennies.
Check how badly rusted your threads are and if they are bad then consider replacing the top shock mounts.
