Hello all. Can someone help please?
Sometimes pressing the tailgate release does not allow the rear door to fully open, the rear widow drops the correct amount but the door will only open a small amount & I need to close it & try again. Usually the door will open fully the second time but once or twice it has taken two or three presses of the release to fully open the door. Did it yesterday first time for a while & wonder if its the cold weather? Any thoughts would be welcomed.
Thanks.

expect the seals to stick.....be careful opening the rear door in this weather incase its frozen then as you drive down the motorway and it thaws slightly the door opens cos you tried to open it earlier....trust me

My latch did this last night for the first time, opened a bit but not fully...not frozen up, just covered in snow I'll keep an eye on it;)

Thanks lads, because I don't have the problem every time I try to open the door & when it does occur it is like the door will open just as far as the safety catch I thought it could be the latch mechanism. For how much the springs cost I will send for some & try that approach.
Thanks again.

Hello Brack, have you experienced the problem with the door only opening to what seems the safety catch only again?
mine just did it a couple of times since, but has so far opened fully second squeeze of the handle. I can hear the catch operating each time I squeeze the handle so I now not sure if it is broken springs?

Hi, been ok since...could be the springs were so cold that they were not operating fully or they're just on their way out ...I'm maybe too gentle with mine sometimes - having broke the tailgate handle of my previous 4x4 last winter.

mine takes two ..
sort of like a slow double-click on a comp. mouse :)
one .. window drops .. .. two .. opens door ..

Also if the handle springs were broken the microswitch would not be getting activated properly and trouble would start with the tailgate window not coming down slightly when opening, not going back up, not recalibrating etc.
