Hi All,
Newish member, I joined for info on Defenders as my son has just bought one!

I've been nosing at Freelanders since, I don't have a huge amount of cash to spend on one (ie about £1000 perhaps a bit more) and I would ideally like a facelift version - yes I'm picky! A 'project' is going to be probably my best bet - I've got until I pass my test until it gets used, so plenty of time. I've found what looks to be a decent '06 TD4 Freestyle that "There was an MOT advisory that one of the springs was corroded on the offside and I dont know if this has gone, as there some noise and wobble from that end (an easy fix)" - couple of questions - is it really an easy fix or should I look elsewhere?

Mick

Edit - I don't know why I've assumed it is rear springs!

Thank you sir, I was hoping it would be a fairly easy job.
I think I'm about to change my mind about a project though - I've found what looks to be an immaculate 2001 ES TD4 auto only an hour from me. I've been doing plenty of research today (also known as skiving at work!) so I'm pretty sure I know what to be looking for. Got a few days off from designing expensive greenhouses so I'm going to pop over on the bike to take a look.

I'd get the facelift as they look better imo.
Springs go rusty, but that's no reason to suspect a serious problem.

Thanks Gel, I've just read through that thread, time to read the extra links! As long as the test drive goes ok I'm not worried about a few jobs to do, I've got plenty of time to do them.

Madmustang - provisional car licence, no ncd (10+ years on my bike insurance but not transferring that), 1 claim for theft (never did catch the little b*****d) is horrendous but everything I've had quotes for come back at ridiculous prices so I decided sod it I'm going to get what I want rather than a silly little shoe box. You should have seen the quote that came back for a Cadillac Seville..... I am still looking about for insurance and I can get the Freelander delivered, chuck it in the garage and shop around for the best quote.
