Hi folks.
Just wondering has anybody ever changed a rear prop shaft on a 3?
& is it a straight forward job, such as undo bolts & straight swap!
Thanks in advance.

Having just done a search (Google is your friend) it would appear that the correct way to do any repairs on the D3 rear prop shaft is to replace it as a single unit.

This would mean the two shafts, the support bearing and the centre CV joint.

It's not a job I need to do but I would assume that it would be just a case of undoing the bolts on each end and then on the middle bearing support bracket.

Apparently Britpart are offering a repair kit for the centre CV joint but the general concensus would be that the joint really isn't repairable.

Thanks......appreciated muchly.

Well I've replaced with a whole new rear prop. The original problem, which was prop thud has gone, great news. Took it for the test drive & I'm having vibration between 50-60 mph.
Also getting a whine whilst under acceleration & load. But this goes away when I lay off the throttle or the road levels out. Any ideas guys or have I done something wrong.
Thanks in advance.
