Advice needed, please?
Thinking of trading in my 110 for a disco series 1. What puts me off is that the electic windows in the rear don't fully drop - they only go down to a third up. Dealer told me this was a safety feature to stop the kids falling out! Can this be true and if so is there a get around to make them go down fully?

NO way round it. but the dealer is a prick. In case you hadn't noticed there is a rather large instep on the door that allows it to fit round the rear wheel arch. It would be difficult to get the glass to squeeze past that restriction.

not a great design then?
Best

the discovery was originally designed as a 3 door, as they didnt think a 5 door would be stable enough, the rear wheels have to go somewhere so unless you have tiny doors or extend it to a 110 chassis the rear doors are going to have to be shaped around them, why is it such a big issue the rear windows dont go all the way down anyway?

the discovery was originally designed to only have three doors so that it didn't steal sales from the flagship five door range rover. they have seperate ladder chassis so why would it not be stable in five door guise?

if it rolled over, they werent sure that the bodyshell wouldnt just collapse

It's all making sense now.
Kids and dog love to stick their heads - and various limbs - out the window to get the breeze on a balmy summer's evening - makes being in a car that bit more fun for them- don't you think?
110 CSW perfect for that. Maybe I'll just stick with it.

It hits one of the kids instead.
