I've done my search and can't find the answer.

I have a LHD TD4 and the only rear fog light that works is the RH one.

I have checked the wiring and lamp in the LH rear fog light and all seems correct.

The reversing lights both work.

Question: Should both rear fog lights work or just one side?

This is before I start stripping wiring down.

Thanks

Well both work on my RHD so one would expect the LHD to be the same, especially as there is a bulb fitted. Have you checked the earth point or voltage at various points?

The previous owner had fitted a tow hitch and when he wired the electrics he chopped the cable!
The feed runs from the RH to LH along the rear door sill, he had cut this and put the towing electrics in series, so works fine when towing but no LH when no trailer electrics plugged in.
I have put link in so they are parallel, don't know if trailer lights will work but LH does.
This will pass my CT tomorrow (hopefully).

Nice when someone posts fix details onto the forum after asking for and getting advice.
All too often the same questions are asked and to make it worse they ride off into the sunset without any mention of whether the problem is sorted.
Usually if the poster stops putting further posts up it's an indication that the problem has been sorted. No mention of what was done, which is of no help to other members with a similar problem.

Rant over.......

Thanks.

I saw that this could be a common fault because it is easy to see why they just cut the wire and did not think about the full effect.
They probably tested the lights with trailer lights fitted and all was well.

But i agree if you fix it let people know.

Just checked the lights and they work ! I don't have a fog light on them (I only have a tow hitch bike rack.)

Looks like the previous owner got the rest right.

Thanks for the tip.
