Rear dropping when parked

Hi all, after getting my rangie P38 a couple of nights ago i've noticed the rear drops down lower than the front when parked for a couple of hours, the suspension all seems to work fine when running with no obvious problems
Is this normal and if not any ideas what the problem could be

Sounds like your airbags have a leak. Had similar with mine. new set of rear airbags she stays up all week!!

Yes Defoe air bags. Get them done quick. Easy job.

Thanks for the replies chaps, any ideas where the best/cheapest place to get some replacements?

Are you parked on the flat? The car will self level if you park on a slope. Try parking for one night facing the other way and see if the rear still drops.
If it does it'll probably be the bags, they have a lifespan of about 7-8 years. The good news is that replacing them is possibly one of the easiest jobs on a P38.

i got my rear pair off ebay new for £137. including new clips and free delivery!! Very easy to change, i follwowed Datateks how to. Took less than an hr!!:clap2:

Do not be tempted to go second hand. Not worth it. Try island 4x4 for bags. Get new clips foo

Island 4x4 is cheap for bags

Yeah parked on a flat road, although it does camber a little, new bags needed me thinks

Cant believe the prices of some second hand bags!! £60 for one, "only a few months old" !! and £20 postage in some cases!!
No point in getting used. Island 4x4 is £187.49 +vat for all four!!

Park it overnight with the timer relay removed, this will stop the air sus from doing anything.
If it still drops, definitely the bags.
Relay under passenger seat.

Absoulutely.

And check the height sensors too.

i have a old airbag that i have just took off only used for 10 years the splits are free of charge only £50 worth a try if they get £60 on ebay

Buying second hand airbags is rather akin to buying second hand balloons. Easy to blow up but don't last long.

I'd check the sensors first before shelling out on new bags. Worth investing £20 in the software and cable for your laptop (pm the nice Mr Datatek). Bags have a life of about 7-8 years so if they are older than that its probably time to change them (Dunlops from island 4x4 best/economical).
I'd put money on the sensors though, may well only be one thats out of range or duff, and probably one at the front if the back is dropping low.
