Rear dropping when parked

I see no reason that sensors would cause car to drop when parked. Unless the delay relay comes on, which it does every six hours or so to auto level, they can have no effect on height other than at that time because they are not connected.
 
i have a old airbag that i have just took off only used for 10 years the splits are free of charge only £50 :p;):D:D:D:D worth a try if they get £60 on ebay


I do hope people dont actually buy them at that sort of price!! Still im sure there are people out there that think it makes good sense to "save a bit of cash" by buying used!
I have seen several listing on the old bay of E where used items are being sold for more than a new one!!:rolleyes:

With some of the air bags i have seen on Ebay the sellers should be prosecuted.
 
Well after a couple of days i've noticed the rear end hasn't been dropping as often, as it sits outside now it is sitting level and hasn't dropped, could it be a sensor is faulty?

I did crawl under and have a look at the airbags, there are no obvious holes or splits, guess they look a little old but like i say no obvious damage

Put it in high setting and recheck for wear

Did you not read my previous post? When the car is parked there is NO power to the sensors they CANNOT cause it to drop. Only when the car is switched or the delay relay switches on is there power to them.
 
If they look old the rubber is probably perished. This causes leaks. Put it in wade height and look again. Should be a smooth surface.

I have the same fault on a one its not the bags, it takes 2 days to drop to the floor and when you start it up it take about 2 mins to lift back off the floor.

However put it to max ride height and get out leave it for 2 days it stays up , i have checked the bags they look new ish

with the vehicle running the compressor is on and off more on than off suspension doesn't move around when its still, however if driven "sporty" and i use that term loosely LOL it feels very soft on the rear right,

now when you have finished been a dick and screech up to a hault and get out often the rear right is low down as you walk away the suspension then self levels.

leave it for say enough time to do some shopping jump back in and it thinks long and hard before raising the rear right, but when it does its straight up so its not a lack of pressure in the system

obviously nothing shows up on diag but i am heading towards a valve block issue ?

while i am on this if the vehicle is left for 3 or more days its brakes are rubbish on initial start up for about 30 secs

Unlikely to be the valve block if it stays up on max height when the pressure is higher. the bags fold under at the bottom and leaks open and close, I'd put money on the bag leaking where it folds under.
Brakes will be the black spherical presure reservoir on the brake pump assembly.

the air bag in question has been recently replaced (thought it looked new) i have checked the history and it was done in Feb so clearly the previous owner has been chasing the same fault.

I would try and pull away from the sagging over night thing its the "soft under driving" thats more annoying if you hit a dip at speed it literally wallows and goes down violently on the rear right as if its just bust,

I don't know the system too as well as the person who built it but it seams to me that the pressure in the rear right is lower than the rest. i need to find the fault now and since i have checked for leaks underneath it must be a valve block issue or ride height setup issue

Shocker sounds as though it's fecked as well.
Exhaust blows can cause micro leaks in the plastic air lines and the connection the the airbag can leak. worth checking the sensor for that corner and making sure the contact are clean and tigh with no corrosion.
 
Checked it all today no leaks no corrosion removed the shocker it was fine too I am sure it's a valve block thing, it's one of those jobs I think I will wait till it gets worse

I will throw this in too, went out the other day along twisty country roads were I live and the suspension up light came on a few times along with the high position light flashing as it I had asked it to move up this only happened when cornering

That's typical of a height sensor problem

The mirrors should tilt in reverse on some models, read the owners manual to set them correctly.

You can set the dipped position to be the same as normal position and then they should not move. Setting info is in the owners manual which included in RAVE if you don't have one.
 
Based thread title, I thought I would add to this one rather than start a new thread.

Most of the time my EAS seems to hold height overnight within about an inch . . Unless I park it backwards on the drive, or on slope at work. . . In either case if the rear is lower than front, the rear seems to drop to the bump stops within about an hour. If the front is lower, then the car stays up & level.

Before somebody mentions "self-levelling", I have a relay fitted that completely removes power to the EAS system when the Ignition is switched off . . . so no clicking valves, timers, etc.

Strange eh ?
